Quilt Blocks
I’m collecting 8″ x 8″ bow tie blocks with a light colored low volume background. Any color bow tie is great. Use the Free Pattern button above.
Backing Fabric
Any large cuts of quilting cotton fabric will be accepted as backing fabric. For reference, a 2.5 yard cut of wide backing fabric (108″) will fully back a twin size quilt. I am not picky though and will piece any large cuts to get the size needed.
Batting
Batting donations are gladly accepted. 100% cotton is preferred to avoid possible allergies for the receiving person.
Thread & Needles
Quilting needles for a standard sewing machine are always welcome as they wear out quickly with the piecing. Thread is also something that can be used. 100% cotton thread is preferred.
Money
Monetary donations are welcomed to purchase needed supplies for the quilts. Please contact me if you need more information.
Sewing/Piecing/Quilting
As donations pick up I will also be in need of help piecing the quilt tops together, along with quilting, and sewing on the binding. I am currently doing the piecing and binding work myself, but as the Bow Ties for Loss project grows, I will need help on this end as well.
I will gladly accept completed quilts or quilt tops using the bow tie pattern. You can arrange your bow tie blocks into any formation. Lap or twin sized quilts preferred.
